An Environmental Rant

There are many important issues that keep our minds occupied. What we fail to understand is that if our earth is no longer here to provide us with planetary support all of our other issues will not even be here to matter. That is the startlingly clear truth. Some people are passing the issues of planetary distress as purely political rhetoric given by politicians who want to incite people to panic. There might be reason to panic if we stop and take a deep breath at our weather channels and news telling us about rising waters and eroding natural boundaries. We are told, matter of fact, that the melting ice caps could turn our oceans and seas into death beds for many species of fish and sea life.
What is not clear to many people is that they are being placated into believing that the end of ice caps and natural Earth weather conditions are political! The fact is that what is political is the use of the deteriorating conditions of the planet by some politicians whose system of existence is to use events and conditions to promote themselves and their pocket books. We are told of the millions being given to politicians who are at the same time using legal means to intimidate scientists into being mute about the realities of a dying planet. Some scientists are actually being threatened into staying quiet about what they know is real, over extending oil wells, burning of enormous fossil fuels, dying fish and stagnant breathable air. We are all witnesses to the extent that those carpetbagger politicians will go to keep the millions paid to them by countries whose outrageous life styles depends on the burning and forcing out of the planet fossil fuels that make their lands more susceptible to earthquakes while making the rest of us look for respirators.
The motto of life currently is that if you have a chicken in your pot, you should not push your luck. That sort of attitude is as dangerous if not more dangerous than allowing ourselves to be killed by pollutants or to be killed by inertia. There are industrious and well intentioned people who have developed skills and technologies that can make life on planet Earth pleasant. Those people should have the right to use their skills and to not be intimidated by legal forces controlled by unscrupulous and dangerous politicians who are scared to death of losing the millions they are getting from assisting fossil fuel pumpers and fossil fuel burners. Basically, the situation is like this. We either assert our rights to the same planet as the charlatans that have taken control of our government not for the good of all but for the good of their bank accounts or we turn into sponges that have been cast out and smell up the coastlines waiting for the final atom of breathable air. There are some groups that have taken to Gandhian tactics and are occupying parks. There are some groups who are trying quietly to add substitute means of producing energy. What is needed right now is a total commitment of all groups who are knowledgeable of what is possible if our planet is allowed to turn into a veritable wasteland to ask for answers from our government and to demand a showing of books of those politicians who have suddenly gone from out of pocket expenses to high priced jets.
